2020 UPDATE: GOOGLE IS MAKING IT HARDER TO VERIFY AND STAY VERIFIED IN THE FOLLOWING NICHES

Niche Pop

WE ONLY WANT NICHES WHERE CONTRACTORS GO TO THEIR CUSTOMERS' LOCATION TO PERFORM THEIR SERVICES

  • There are no "perfect" niches but not all niches are created equally. Pay attention to the elements in our worksheet.

  • The riches are in the obscure niches.
  •     Think outside the box when choosing a niche and do your research!

Focus on phone-driven businesses that generate customers through phone calls (not walk-in traffic)

  • 50k - 350k population size is a good starting point.

  • Always remember: there are no shortages of businesses out there who need your help!

Check with your local state laws to see if you need a license to generate leads in a specific niche.

Call your local secretary of state, your local chamber of commerce, or simply check Google.

Another thing you might do is check local competitor websites to see if they have a license prominently displayed.

Business In The Niche

IF THIS DOESN'T SHOW FOR YOU, DOWNLOAD HERE:

  • Once you’ve established your niche, figure out the number of active businesses in your target market.

  • Too few businesses in your area may mean less leads due to lack of competition.

  • More competition = hungrier businesses for leads.

  • We recommend a minimum of 5 active businesses.

  • Sales Genie or Info USA are useful tools to find out who is in your local space. You do NOT need to purchase a subscription to either of these- You can also use Google.

Using SEO Quake

  • We are trying to determine WHY our competition is ranking so high in the search engines.

  • Useful features include seeing how many links and pages a website has, as well as the age of a site.

  • Keep in mind that in a best-case scenario, website quality is usu
  • ally determined by a high number of pages (more content), a high number of backlinks (more votes), and a high age (more authority).

Whitespark

  • A citation is simply a business being "cited" or mentioned somewhere online, usually in online directories such as Google listings, YellowPages.com or Yelp.

  • They are normally a combination of a company name, address, website and phone number.

  • Citations are important for gettting in the Google Map Pack aka "3 pack" (see image) and play a major role in attaining Google validation and getting more traffic to your lead gen site.

  • If you want to get ranked in the local map pack, it's important to research citations within your target market and try to beat your local competitors.

  • Whitespark.ca has a useful tool called the Local Citation Finder that allows you to see how many local citations your competition has in your niche.

  • In general, you want to have the same number or even more local citations as the top 3 local businesses in your market.

LOW HANGING FRUIT (JK)

  • "Low hanging fruit" refers to niches that will be the easiest to dominate locally by understanding how the Google Map listings coincide with the organic search listings below.
  • The Google Map listings heavily follow the organic listings of local websites. So if a site doesn't rank high organically (on page 1 of Google), it probably won't rank in the 3 pack.

ARE ALL 3 GOOGLE MAP LISTINGS ALSO RANKING ON PAGE 1 OF GOOGLE?

IF YES, THEN IT IS NOT LIKELY A LOW HANGING FRUIT NICHE AND WILL BE HARDER TO RANK.

IF NO, THEN IT MAY BE A LOW HANGING FRUIT NICHE AND WILL BE EASIER TO RANK.
